PAST FIELD TRIPS

New Orleans Zephyrs: A large group of Each One Save One mentors and students attended a New Orleans’ Zephyrs game in July on volunteer appreciation night. We enjoyed all the ballgame favorites and a home team victory!

Jean Laffite State park: In October, our mentors and students visited Jean Laffite State Park to enjoy learning about the plants and animals that make up the swamp ecosystem. Our students had the opportunity to use nets and other tools to investigate the area.

New Orleans Port: In April, the New Orleans’ Port Authority offered a boat trip to Each One Save One. Our mentors went aboard the General Kelly and enjoyed learning about all the goods that come into the city and how important the port system is to our economy.

Hornets: In November, we were treated to a New Orleans Hornets game at the Hive. We enjoyed a great game, fun half-time entertainment and the opportunity to meet fellow students and mentors.

Adventure Quest: In January, a group of Each One Save One mentors and students enjoyed a night out at Adventure Quest. We enjoyed miniature golf, laser tag, bumper cars and shooting hoops at the arcade. Fun night with the guys!

Children’s Museum. We had a large group enjoyed the African American Heritage Celebration at the Louisiana Children’s Museum in February. Our students loved all the activities, especially the life-size balloons!

Zoo: At our inaugural year end celebration at Audubon Zoo our mentors and students were treated to a barbecue and passes to the zoo. The student’s loved checking out all the animals, but I think the enormous alligators and elephants were the most popular.
